CHIMNEYS & TUNNELS ALONG THE RIVER
Next walk: Saturday 1st June
First Saturday of each month
Available at other times for private groups by special arrangement
A mini-adventure that tracks down the unmarked monuments and buried tubes around Greenwich. We seek out their stories of power, pollution and danger.
We start by speeding across the Thames by Clipper from Greenwich Pier to Masthouse Terrace Quay. From there it's a 3 and a half mile 'dot-to-dot' walk as we link together the chimneys above our heads, sometimes tracing the routes of tunnels.
Note to budding steeplejacks and subterranean explorers: leave your harnesses, torches and hard hats at home! Apart from the descent into one tunnel, we'll keep our feet firmly on ground level as we let our minds wander above and below.

We enjoyed every minute. A fascinating insight into all the layers of history which make up Greenwich, all through enjoyable facts and myths surrounding a whole variety of chimneys and tunnels. It's a great walk too, lovely views and a perfect way to spend an afternoon. Tour guide Rosie's energy is infectious and her insights are so interesting. Our tour party talked about all we'd learnt and seen for most of the evening afterwards! Makes you see London in a new light too...

We had the best time. It really is one of the best things we've done this year.
